BAHUBALI A GIFT OF TELUGU TO HINDI
By Brigadier Chitranjan Sawant,VSM
SS RAJMOULI – never heard of him before in our sleepy Noida near Delhi. Bahubali – we are quite familiar with the word but the connotation is quite different. In this part of the country, the word Bahubali is being used for outlaws who display and use a lot of muscle power to get the job done. They indeed make news but for all the wrong reasons.
BAHUBALI – here comes the real one who made a neme for himself, his Director; SS RAJMOULI and the entire cast; not forgetting the script writer Mr Prasad, father of Rajmouli and real source of inspiration. Of course, the father told his son” You are too slow and you must make a film in Hindi with superstars”. Rajmouli took the advice seriously and has now broken into the Hindi world with a bang.
BAHUBALI is originally made in Telugu and has now been dubbed in HINDI for the large audience of North India.
Karan Johar is the celebrity who will take Bahubali to the Hindi cineworld and indeed Success beckons. Rajmouli needed it to defray the mega size expenses of his blockbuster, Bahubali that cost Rs 250 crores – never spent so much on a single movie before. Of course, the first day’s collections at the box office have encoraged Chandramouli so much that he is actively planning to launch a sequal to Bahubali. If the grapevine is to be believed, forty percent of the sequel to Bahubali is already in the cans.
Be that as it may, Rajmouli has carves a niche for himself in the Filmdom. It is forever.
Was the making of Bahubali a smooth sailing throughout? Well, not exactly so. Many a time the director himself, SS RAJMOULI thought of quitting but persuaded himself to stay on. If failure is to come, let it come after an attempt at presenting a new concept is made, why say Die before death comes. It helped him a lot to survive. And he did survive.
Where does Rajmouli get his ideas from? Well, books are his original and perennial source of novel ideas. When he was a child, is father, Shri Prasad gave him Amar Chitra Katha to read and the comics ignited his imagination like never before. It led him to film making in Telegu and he courted success. Of course, failure too was lurming in the corner but the family faced it unitedly. We swim or sink together. They did it. A large family – Mr Prasad, Rajmouli’s father were seven brothers and Rajmouli all told has thirteen cousins. They never fail to give an objective assessment of a new venture and it helps to unfold a finished interesting picture before the audience on the screen. That is the secret of success of the new giant among pigmy producers.
By the way, Rajmouli’s father, Mr Prasad is the story writer for Salman’s big venture, Bajrangi Bhaijaan. So, story telling and presentation of a story on the screen for varied types of audiences across Bharat flows like blood in the veins of Rajmouli.
No wonder BAHUBALI has broken all past records in collecting money on the opening day of the film. The Producer, Director and the entire cast collected money as if they were harvesting rain water.
