SECRET OF MADHURI DIXIT’S HAPPINESS
By Brigadier Chitranjan Sawant
I have never met Madhuri Dixit off screen. And yet I feel so close to her. She is so warm, so affectionate, so forthright and so jolly. One cannot but love her.
Indeed there are two sides of the coin. She is a public person; she is a private person. She loves acting, she likes dancing, she likes socialising and above all she is charitable towards those who need charity. When she sees someone without a smile, she gives one of hers.
As a matter of fact many heroes of the film world owe their success to the lading lady of the movie they acted in – Madhuri Dixit. Madhuri dazzled and the hero just acted and lived in her reflected glory. But for her, those who are called Hero were just Zero. She made them what they are. Believe it or not but it is as True as Truth can be.
Let us move over to the second part of her personality. She married because she wanted to have children, become a mother, bring up children and thus give something back to the society from where she had received a lot.
VEDAS say that to be a complete man or a complete woman an individual must have progeny. Beget children to pay up the Pitra Rin or the repay the debt to your parents. Madhuri did exactly that.
I must compliment her darling hubby, Mr Nene who has given a tremendous support to his darling wife, Madhuri. In the Vedic Vivah Sansakar, the bride and the groom take seven steps together in the Ishan Disha; it is known as Saptpadi. In the seventh step they become SAKHA or Friends. They become equals, no one is high and no one is low ; just equals to bear the special burden of raising a family and to be together through thick and thin.
The shift from the limelight of the cine world to the sunlight of the family life was indeed of her own volition. There was no force, no coercion, no allurement and no inducement. Swechcha is the world for willingly crossing over from the dazzle of arc light, the media publicity to another real where her personality merged with that of her husband. She became just the girl next door. And yet she was happy.
Madhuri herself has said time and again that she enjoyed taking out her car from the garage in an exclusive residential area in America, going to the Mall for shopping and returning with bags full of fruits and vegetables like any other full time housewife. No issues whatsoever.
In due course of time she conceived and had a son. Both she and her hubby doted on the sonny boy. The baby was the be-all and the end-all of her life. She felt that she was never happier than this ever before. Soon the second son followed. The more the merrier. How many more. No more, thought the Happy Couple. Of course, there is no restriction on having more children than just the two. But they made a decision and stuck to it. Happy indeed; no reason to crib.
In America it was a life of anonymity for Madhuri Dixit. And yet she was happy. The artificial limelight was gone; so what. The real beautiful life was bestowed on them by the Almighty. Just the husband and wife and their offspring made the Happy Foursome.
Of course, happiness is a state of mind. If one thinks one is happy indeed one is happy. No power on earth can snatch that happiness away if the family bonds are strong and there is LOVE for one another. It is the genuine Love that matters and not the love of the cine world where the hero and heroine profess love for each other and yet the element of Happiness is missing. The celluloid love is not Love it is just a piece of acting for the profession to earn your bread and butter. The genuine love needs no acting. It is felt, it is realized and it is indeed not only for the body. Love is Love where the mind, body and soul experience Love.
Why did Madhuri Dixit leave her hubby and two lovely sons to return to Bollywood, a doubting Thomas may ask. Well, as I said earlier in the first few lines of the present write up, Madhuri Dixit has a public life; Madhuri Dixit has a private life. She enjoys both. She loves to live in the two realms turn by turn. There is no rigidity of rules, time or place. It weis Schcha. It is Own Will that guides and navigates her.
A literary critic asked Saint Tulsidas why he wrote Ram Charit Manas – all about the life of Maryada Purshottam Shri Ram when the whole world already knew all about it. “ SWANTAH SUKHAI TULSI RAGHUNATH GATHA” was his spontaneous reply with a disarming smile. The questioner was satisfied and probed no further. Likewise Madhuri Dixit lives the life she wishes to live, both public and private. It is of her own volition and that indeed is the secret of her Happiness.
